  • Vespa Magazine Augmented Reality

Have seen quite a few of these, but this is definitely the smoothest, most seamless execution I’ve seen so far!

  • Prankvertising: Pepsi Max Augmented Reality bus shelter ad! So good!

  • Project Tango: an exploration into giving mobile devices a human-scale understanding of space and motion.

Now this will be a game changer. Oh the possibilities! “The future is awesome. We believe we can get there faster if we build it together. Project Tango is an attempt to create a mobile device unlike like any other, a mobile device that shares our sense of space and movement, that understands and perceives the world the same way we do. We have been collaborating with universities, research labs, and industrial partners who share this passion spanning 9 countries around the world to concentrate the past 10 years of research in robotics and computer vision into a unique mobile phone. • [youtube] Sesame Street Augmented reality – the first use of AR I’ve seen that brings actual 3D objects to life, in combination with a flat surface. Nice! Will be interesting to see where this leads with other uses of real life objects.  M. x (Source:

  • Google goggles are here! Watch video of the mind-boggling techno-glasses which layer Maps, email and web searches OVER your view of the world.

Google has taken the wraps off the terminator style techno-glasses which add emails, Google searches and even directions over your view of the world. The glasses – still in testing stages – were unveiled via a Google Plus page, Project Glass, are voice-controlled, and offer GPS directions as well as email and video chat paired with Augmented Reality through a built-in screen directly in front of a user’s eyes. The glasses are a product of Google’s ‘Google X’ blue-sky ideas lab – and the search giant is looking for ideas to improve them. With over 500 comments so far, the […]

  • Nokia Lumia Augmented Reality Angry Birds!!!

[youtube] WOW. This is easily the best use of AR I have seen to date! All done by my new pal, Aden Hepburn (Digital Buzz) his team at VML, and Fuel Communications. The installation was triggered via an interactive mat filled with pressure sensors, while Xbox Kinect was used to pick up the gestures. I just can’t believe I missed this, probably the one morning I didn’t walk through Martin Place! Fantastic work, though. Absolutely love it! M. x Source: Digital Buzz

Philly History – GPS base Augmented Reality

Take a step back in time.. The latest update in the Augmented Reality development world! Philadelphia has mapped out their archive on of over 90,000 geocoded images and developed an app, where you can walk around the streets and see what it was like through the ages! You can read about how they achieved this first stage effort in their online white paper here and the prototype Augmented Reality by application will remain available for download until July 2011. Pretty amazing stuff! :) M. x

    Augmented reality/Aurasma

Well this is one thing I’ve been meaning to blog on for a while! I first saw Augmented Reality in use when Mal and Ross from 303 (my old agency) won a Caxton for the use in a newspaper for the Office of Road Safety. So what are they? Auras (new Augmented reality app) are augmented reality actions – images, videos or even games that appear when you point the phone at a real world image. I’m pretty excited about the future use of these. So much potential!! To read about the different types of Auras, and try out some sample […]
